Most canine amputees can swim without a floatation device. But Tripawd dogs swim longer, safer and more confidently when wearing a life jacket. Watch Tripawds Founder Spirit Jerry G. Dawg, swimming with and without a life jacket:

Accept no imitations! The Ruffwear K9 Float Coat is the only

dog floatation device with full under-belly padded cells
that keep even the largest Tripawd upright while swimming.

  • Prevents dogs from swallowing too much water

  • Provides a buoyant lift when your Tripawd gets tired
  • Ergonomic cut provides flexibility
  • Sturdy handle helps you offer assistance as needed

  1. Murphy has always been an extremely strong swimmer. He has a very powerful front end, so being a rear Tripawd did not affect that part of his swimming. However, before we even let him go in the water after his amputation/hip replacement, we bought a Floatcoat for him. He gets soooo excited when he sees it. He has no trouble at all out-swimming his quadpawd friends.

He became familiar with the Floatcoat before we had him at the lake, as the rehab vets used one when he did his underwater treadmill and swimming in the tank.

The Floatcoat gets a two thumbs and three paws up at our house.

  3. I’m so excited to see this, and what perfect timing! Oreo and I are moving to a lake in Tennessee in July and she’ll want to swim, I’m sure. I’ll get this now so she’s used to it when it’s swim time.

  4. My 3/4 size poodle Milo lost his front right leg as a puppy and for 5.5 years he has paddled but he hasn’t swum much. After seeing a video of Wyatt swimming so well in his Float Coat, I decided to buy one for Milo. He has been swimming in it for 8 days now and he is a new dog! He can get so much exercise from swimming, he goes way out over his head to fetch a stick, he swims alongside me, or just goes in on his own for fun. Already he is gaining confidence around other dogs who might be threatening to swim out and pinch his stick… he swims so well and he loves it. I’m really keen to see how well we can reduce vet bills for trigger point therapy now that he can get so much exercise swimming. I’m absolutely delighted.
