Tripawds Spokesdog Wyatt Ray recently got his paws on a Cloud Chaser outdoor dog jacket courtesy of the good people at Ruff Wear. He happily put it to the test in the rainy, snowy Colorado Rockies.
The Cloud Chaser arrived in time to cover Wyatt’s abdominal incision from his recent gastropexy. This form-fitting jacket can be used on front or rear leg amputees without a problem. As you can see, the jacket has great under-belly coverage, making it a good option for post-amputation, recovering Tripawds who want to play outside.

Tripawds Reviews the Cloud Chaser™
As usual, we were blown away by the durable construction and quality materials that Ruff Wear uses.
In fact, the Cloud Chaser’s fabrication is on-par with, if not better than, our own human rain gear from a popular outdoor gear manufacturer! As you can see, the tough zipper and its enclosure is covered and lined with waterproof material to keep dogs dry. Wyatt tried it in the rain too, and the jacket kept him clean and warm. This made cleanup easy when he went indoors after a good rain!
What we loved most was that even though it’s a water-proof jacket, its stretchy fabric doesn’t hinder a dog’s ability to run, jump or play, which some dog rain coats can do. 
The Cloud Chaser is stretchy and flexible, allowing for full movement. It’s form fitting, which is great, but about the only thing we weren’t crazy about was that Wyatt’s big German Shepherd body realllly had to squeeze into it, even though his girth measurement fell right in the middle of the “Large” size. Otherwise, this jacket is a sure-bet for inclement weather. The high quality, long-lasting materials Ruff Wear used in constructing it has made this gear a vital component of Wyatt’s active lifestyle for years to come.

Sizing: For proper fit, simply measure your dog’s girth around the widest part of his/her rib cage. It is girth size, not weight, that determines proper fit. For in-between sizes, Ruff Wear recommends selecting the smaller size for an active, contoured fit.

Do you have a jacket for a left front removal that would protect that shoulder?
Hi Brinna! Thanks for asking. This jacket is for front or rear leg Tripawds missing any leg. Some people sew up the unused arm hole for front Tripawds. If you need something with more heavy-duty protection, say because of a pressure sore, this Dog Chest Protector jacket may help.
