Your Best Advice for Living with Snow and Ice

If you live in a snowy climate, what’s the one piece of advice you would give to a new Tripawd pawrent when it comes to hopping around on snow and ice?

Being weather wimps ourselves, we have to admit we don’t know much about living with the daily challenges of living as a Tripawd while trying to navigate slippery, icy surfaces like sidewalks.

While we typically recommend trying traction solutions such as Ruff Wear Grip Trex Boots and using the Climate Changer Sweater to stay warm, we know that lots of you have many other ways to make your three-legged hero’s life easier during winter.

  • So, in a nutshell, what’s been your experience when it comes to living with snow and ice on three legs?
  • What kind of gear do you recommend for new Tripawds pawrents?
  • What are your favorite tricks for making sure that you’re both safe when going out on walks?

  1. Can’t wait to hear the suggestions. This is Pegz first winter in Buffalo. SO far, the snow is holding off. But it IS Buffalo…it is only a matter of time! 😀

  2. Well, I wish I could give good ICE recommendations but I can say that the Ruff Wear harness is a MUST for especially bad footing. Used Maggie’s this a.m. as we had freezing rain/sleet last night. I wish they made dog bootie’s with actual ice picks on them like us humans can get for our boots.

  3. More rain last night creating more ice on the snow we got last week! Argh! I had to put MY ice picks on my boots, Maggie’s Ruffwear harness on and hang onto her…she did slip once and I was darn glad I had that handle to hold onto her! That harness is a saving grace.

Tracy & Maggie, who HATE ice!!!!!!!!!!!
