Tripawds Do Amazing Feets with FitPAWS Paw Pods

The fun exercise gear from FitPAWS keeps coming!

Check out the new FitPAWS Paw Pods, perfect for advanced core conditioning and strengthening exercises.

We think the Paw Pods have another beneficial use. In our preliminary assessment, it appears they might help certain dogs overcome feet-related phobias.

For Tripawds with Advanced Fitness Levels

Improve your Tripawd’s weight bearing issues while having fun with this set of four, 5″ balance pods. Use one, two or all three for a strengthening session that’s enjoyable for both of you. Like FitPAWS other gear, the Paw Pods help improve your Tripawd’s proprioception (body awareness) and balance.

Develop Proprioception

Even just getting your three-legged dog used to the Paw Pods will help them develop awareness of their new body and improved proprioception. Take turns placing each of your dog’s feet onto a pod, rewarding them when they leave it there. Handling your dogs feet in this way will help them become aware of best positioning for proper balance. Does your dog hate to have his feet touched? Paw Pods can help with that too!

Alleviate Feet Fears

The FitPAWS Paw Pods feature sensory bumps on top for neural stimulation and grip capability.

Besides being a great workout tool, the Paw Pods have another use. They’re a useful training tool for dogs who don’t like to have their feet touched.

Tripawds Spokesdog Wyatt Ray is one such foot-phobic dog, and we’re currently training him to let us touch his feet by rewarding him with treats whenever he steps on a Pod.

He hasn’t allowed us to place all of his feet on the Pods . . .  yet. We’re approaching this level by working on placing one front foot on first. When he’s comfortable with that, we’ll work toward placing both front feet on the Pods, and then eventually all three.

Adjust Your Workout

Paw Pods may be one of the most challenging workouts yet for Tripawds. We’re certain that those pups with more advanced fitness levels, like Tripawd Maggie, will learn to use them in no time at all.

Once a dog gets the hang of it, you can also change the difficulty level by using the Paw Pods placed with the flat side down (less challenging) or the dome side down (more challenging.)

Paw Pods come in assorted fun colors (be careful or you dog might think they’re a chew toy!). They’re made from a firm yet flexible PVC material with an air-filled chamber. The Paw Pods are shipped inflated but you can adjust the balance challenge by changing the amount of air inside each pod with a needle pump (not included.)

Stay tuned for Wyatt Ray’s complete review once he conquers his foot phobia. Meanwhile, see how much fun 10-year old Ralphie the Yorkie has with them.

  1. I’ve been looking at these – how is it going using them on Wyatt? I was thinking of getting another BOSU dome but I see you don’t list it? It’s by FitPaws as well..

  2. Wyatt is getting pretty good with his Paw Pods. We’re almost at the point of getting all three of his feet up!

We’ve never considered offering the the BOSU Balance Trainers here because Ball Dynamics does not list them as part of their FitPAWS line of products. The material used may not be designed to withstand puncture from dog’s nails.

  3. well, isn’t that interesting. I got mine years ago thru Cleanrun.com (doggie site) and I just talked with FitPaws this a.m. on Facebook and they say they can be used.. I haven’t had any problems with mine yet with my two popping it. I’m giong to get another and use two, flat side down, and have Maggie stand on them so it will mimic her sorta being on an eggball but safer for a Tripawd 🙂

Glad Wyatt is doing well on them!!! It’s either Paw pods or another BOSU dome for Maggie…
